Privacy Policy

Last updated 14 September 2026.

Short version, before the legal one: GymsCost has no accounts and no login, so there is nothing here for you to sign up to. We do not sell personal information. The only cookies on this site come from analytics and from advertising, and you can turn the advertising ones off. If you email us, we keep the email.

The rest of this page explains that properly. “We”, “us” and “our” mean GymsCost, the operator of gymscost.com. You can reach a person at hello@gymscost.com.

What we collect

Information you send us. If you email us about a price correction or anything else, we receive your email address, your message, and any attachment you include. We keep that correspondence so we can track what was corrected and when. You can ask us to delete it at any time.

Information collected automatically. Like almost every website, our server records technical data when you load a page: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, the page you requested, the page you came from, and the time of the request. This sits in server logs and is used to keep the site running and to investigate errors and abuse.

We do not ask for your name, postal address, phone number, date of birth, or payment details. We have no reason to, and we would rather not hold them.

Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser. This site uses them in three ways.

  • Strictly necessary ones, for the site to load and for security. These cannot be switched off.
  • Analytics, which gives us aggregate numbers about which pages get read and on what kind of device, so we know which gym pages to update first.
  • Advertising cookies, set by Google and other ad vendors, described in the next section.

Our cookie policy lists every cookie this site can set, what it does, and how long it lasts. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking advertising cookies will not stop you seeing ads, it will make the ones you see less relevant. Nothing on this site stops working if you block them.

Advertising, and what Google does

This site is supported by display advertising served by Google AdSense and, where applicable, its partner networks. Google requires us to tell you the following, and it applies to this site:

  • Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
  • Where we use third-party vendors other than Google, you can opt out of their use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.

How Google handles data from sites that use its advertising products is set out in Google’s own policy. We do not receive your personal information from Google’s ad systems, and we cannot see who you are from an ad impression.

If you are in the EU, the UK, or Switzerland

Where the GDPR applies, our legal basis for processing is your consent for analytics and advertising cookies, and legitimate interest for the server logs that keep the site secure and working. Analytics and advertising cookies are only set after you agree to them. Whenever any of them are active on the site, a consent banner appears on your first visit, and you can change or withdraw that choice later by clearing this site’s cookies in your browser.

You have the right to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to object to processing, and to receive a copy in a portable form. Email hello@gymscost.com with “privacy” in the subject and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

If you are in California

Under the CCPA and CPRA you can ask what categories of personal information we have collected, ask for it to be deleted, and opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell personal information for money. Advertising cookies can count as “sharing” under California law, so you can opt out using the Google and aboutads.info links above, or by emailing us. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.

Children

This site is written for adults deciding where to spend money on a gym. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

How long we keep things

Server logs are kept for a short operational period and then discarded by our host. Emails you send us are kept for as long as the correction or query stays relevant, and deleted on request. Cookie lifetimes are set by whoever placed the cookie, and for advertising cookies that is Google or its partners, not us.

Security, and an honest limit

The site runs over HTTPS, admin access is limited and rate-limited, and we hold very little that would be worth stealing. No website can promise perfect security, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What we can promise is that we do not collect data we do not need, which is the only real protection there is.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes we update the date at the top. If a change affects how your data is used in a way that matters, we will say so on the page rather than quietly editing a paragraph.

Questions about any of this go to hello@gymscost.com, or use the contact page. The terms of use cover the rest of your relationship with this site.
